Ben Browne, Jack Beasley and Rico Alexander moved to the bench. Jack Ashton made his first start for Town, Mansfield Town’s Steve Johnson came in at centre half and the pacey winger Jordan Orosz. Iustin Cerga came in for the injured Any O’Connor. Adam Confue missed out with a back injury and Tommy McGowan was suspended for reaching 5 bookings this season. Kieran Fitzgerald made a welcome return to the bench after missing the last 9 games.
It was a bitter cold but dry afternoon.
Town created a couple of chances in the early exchanges. Jordan Orosz made a good run down the right and his cross was cut out just in front of Jake Dumbleton. An Adam Creaney cross from the other flank was also cleared by a well organised Holbeach defence.
Town fell behind in the 7th minute when a pass to Joe Smith split the defence and he finished well past Cerga.
It was an open affair with Town still very much in it.
From a good break by Town in the 14th minute, Phil Cassidy had a shot that went narrowly wide of the Tigers goal.
On 23 minutes, an excellent cross field pass got Jordan Orosz behind the Holbeach defence. His control was excellent but the keeper saved the shot with his legs.
Creaney had a free kick on the edge of the box on the half hour but his effort went over the bar.
Town went close again on 41 when Creaney made space for himself in the box. His shot was just inside the left post but Drury tipped the ball around the post. Creaney took the corner and this was cleared from underneath the bar.
Adam Creaney was forced to leave the pitch for a slight nose bleed. He was cautioned as he returned to the game for questioning the official’s decision.
Shortly after Phil Cassidy was cautioned for a tackle in front of the Holbeach stand. The free kick was played into the crowded penalty area. Cerga attempt to reach the cross was blocked and Joe Smith headed the ball home.
The referee blew for halftime shortly after.

No changes at halftime
Town were far from out of the match and had the bulk of the possession throughout the second half.
Jake Bettles needed treatment after brought down by a late challenge. Surprisingly the official decided this did not even warrant anything more than a brief couple of words.
Bettles managed to continue for a while, before being replaced by Kieran Fitzgerald.
Adam Moussi produced an excellent run after picking the ball up in his own half. He ran past virtually the whole Holbeach team before being adjudged to after committed a foul as he attempted to get a shot on target.
Jack Ashton was replaced on the hour by Sam Jackson
Kieran Fitzgerald had a great run down the left but the pull back to Dumbleton was just taken off his toe.
Adam Creaney appeared to be held inside the box with 10 to go and went down under the challenge. Home fans called for a second yellow but the referee waved play on. Anywhere else on the pitch it would have been a free kick and to prove it the official gave Holbeach the free kick for less contact on the halfway line just 30 seconds later.
Town were having plenty of the ball in this half, but the ball just wasn’t running for them.
To prove the point again Holbeach broke and Dougill’s cross was volleyed home by Lewis Leckie with 5 to go.
Town still pushed to the end and Dumbleton found space in the box to curl a shot just wide.
