As expected Town were in control throughout the match and created multiple chances. The visitors weren’t overawed and performed admirably.

Town went in front on 9 minutes when an Adam Creaney corner found OLI ESURUOSO in the 6 yard box. His first effort was charged down but his second hit the back of the net.

Jordan Garrad went close to an equaliser when his shot from the edge of the area took a deflection and bounced just the right side of the post from Town’s perspective.

Jake Bettles went through the middle of the Grendon defence but again Cox was off his line and charged the ball down.

Jake Bettles had another rasping shot that Cox held well just inside the right post just before half time.

Grendon’s Dean Garrad had the first shot of the second half but the ball just cleared the crossbar.

An Adam Confue header was well saved again, Jake Dumbleton picked up on a mistake and turned and hit the base of the right post.

Town created numerous chances throughout the second half but it was the 66th minute before they finally started to pull away.

Credit to Grendon Rangers and their keeper who kept Town pretty much at bay for over an hour before the late flurry of goals.

Town will now will face a two legged semi final against either Winslow United or Olney Town.

Both teams have ex Town players in their current squads, Simon King and his brother Aaron are now at Winslow. Aaron was top scorer for Town last season during the championship success whilst Simon and their brother Neil have also pulled on the purple shirt.
