A goal from debutant Luke Keen, coming on as a substitute late in the game, rescued a vital point for Daventry Town, in a match they should have won easily at St Ives, Cambridgeshire, but had to settle for a 1 – 1 draw.
A fox-in-the-box, the 22-year-old striker had originally signed for Rugby in October 2010 from Atherstone. Luke scored on his full debut against Bedfont and then followed it up by notching an impressive hat-trick in the Red Insure Cup at Halesowen Town. Luke re-signed for Rugby Town in September 2011 from Redditch United and marked his return with a goal against Slough Town.
Daventry have reached the Northamptonshire Hillier Cup Final for the second year in succession beating United Counties Premier League outfit Peterborough Northern Star in the semi –final, goals from Scott Cross, Ashley Robinson, Neil King and Tom Lorraine ensuring a return visit to the Sixfields Stadium, the home of Northampton Town, next April.
